dresses for bridesmaid Bengali Bride And Groom

Bengali Bride And Groom

Bengali weddings in India are marked by blowing of the conch shells and ululation by the women dressed in red and white Bengali style sarees. They celebrate weddings with traditional rituals which are not adorned in any kind of flamboyancy and are very simple and beautiful affair. Live musicians also known as Shehnai are played over a music system which symbolizes the social declaration from bride and groom's family to the rest of the society about the wedding occasion.

On the wedding day, a Bengali bride represents the true feminine beauty in women and looks spectacular. Dressing up a bride is a task and an occasion in itself where she is draped in a red or crimson Banarasi saree which is the most traditional attire for a Bengali bride. Some women give it a modern touch by choosing different colors such as pink, maroon and white but, the color red is given the highest preference which adds charm and glow to the beauty of every single bride and is considered to be very auspicious. The saree has rich and intensive golden embroidery work which looks stunning on a banarasi saree as it is a weakness of every Bengali woman and their wardrobes can state it all. In Bengali marriage, many brides wear chunni separately on their heads which is made of silk only.

After the saree is draped properly, bride's hair is tied neatly into a bun or braid adorned with flowers and tiaras. This is followed by putting traditional gold jewelry on her different body parts. Heavy jewelry is worn by the Bengali bride that signals to the continuation of wealth even after marriage and is treated like a Goddess Lakshmi. She wears heavy necklace along with earrings. On her forehead she wears tikka or a head band which covers her entire forehead with jewelry. Beautiful peacock designs and floral designed jewelry is worn by the bride. In some marriages in India ancestral jewelry of mother or grandmother is gifted to the bride where in some families the bride has to wear it on her wedding day. On the ankle gold anklets are worn along with toe rings. Traditional red and white bangles made of ivory and lac is worn on her hands where one or two gold bangles are also essential.

To beautify the Bengali bride even more red and white dot design patterns are made above bride's eyebrows, on her cheeks and chin. A big red bindi is put at the centre of the forehead making bride look majestic. On her hands and feet red color liquid known as alta is applied which is considered as a good Oman. The alta makes hand and feet desirable and wonderful.

To complete the look, a head gear is put on the bride's head known as mukut which is mandatory for every Bengali bride and is made of paper.

Bengali groom is not far behind in looking his best. He wears silk dhoti and kurta generally of-white in color. He wears 'Topor' over his head which is made of paper and shoal conical hat. Every groom has to wear it because it is a symbol of their culture and hence, is considered auspicious. During the marriage ritual, groom drapes a silk cloth around his body known as the 'jor'. The end of the cloth is tied with the palla of the bride's saree after which the couple takes seven rounds around the holy fire.

Today's youngsters discuss their wedding dresses with their future life partners and wear same color tone dresses which make them even more attractive.

Thus, for a bride and the groom the most important aspect about self is to look their best and leave rest of the wedding arrangements on their family members.

dresses for prom 2010 SP physician is charged in sex assault case

SP physician is charged in sex assault case

I agree with the rest, I thought it would be males too. With the leather pants and the facial hair, he just struck me as peculiar. Since this is the first allegation against, he deserves the benefit of the doubt though. And I dont even want to get started on Saks or the rest of the whack doctors practicing in Pedro. The pool of decent doctors has diminished in town. We left Zic for physicians in Torrance. Amen.

PS. I dont know why the city says Lomita, a friend may have done the first post - but this is Pedro all day.

ZZTop, I respect your opinion, I have known many people who have gone there as patients and were happy with him aa a doctor. And again, I believe this is the first thing that has formally happened to the Dr. I believe in giving people the chance to be proven guilty before we ruin their lives. Of course the acusations could be true and might be true, I would prefer to wait and see. And if they are proven, Dr Zic needs to lose his license and do some time. Of course, I would be more like the others right now if Zic had a troubled history.

Hypothetically speaking here: What if someone had a family member or great friend who was a Dr or someone accused of charges like Zic? Wouldn't you want the people to wait until that person is found innocent or guilty? Or is that OK for people to group your family members or friends with people like OJ Simpson?

My Dearest Brian,

The people you say are "happy" with him as a doctor, did you ever ask them why? It may be because they can get prescriptions from him that their other doctors won't give them. Maybe he couldn't pay these two off. He picks and chooses his victims. He likes them very thin. He is intrigued with their cultures. He is well versed in many languages, giving him that debonaire appearance. I hope more people come forward with complaints. I know of one male patient who was fondled by this pervert, and I'm sure there are more. I know of another patient who used to "dance" for him, but said they never had sex. And as for his family members and friends, his original family I believe is estranged from him, and my guess is he has no friends. So, it seems you are kind of like "Kato" that lived in the pool house. As long as he was nice to you, he must be an ok guy.

My Dearest ZZTop, You are taking what I said in wrong context. I said I do know people who were happy with him as a dr. and I know for a fact it had nothing to do with meds or prescritions. That doesn't make what you or anyone else said incorrect. I just don't want to judge someone until we learn more about the case. However, I will wait until he is convicted or at the very least, strong evidence to support the claims. I also never said the victims are lying.

I'm totally for the victims and if they are really victims I truely hope he is convicted. I have a family member who is a victim from a very well trusted person on the community and the person was found innocent and I know of several others. So I my heart goes out to the victims and no amount of money can replace what they will go through for the rest of their lives.

dresses for mother of the brides 5447 E Main Indianapolis

5447 E Main Indianapolis

So planning a wedding and getting your wedding gown is to be one of the happiest times of your life unless you are getting your dress from this store. I ordered my dress the beginning of November 2009. Here it is March 31, 2010 and I still do not have a dress. The day I ordered it should have been a sign. They told me I get a % off if I ordered the same day that I tried it on, but instead of giving me space and time to think about it, they followed me and just stared. All they wanted was my money. I ordered the dress and was told that it would be in the end of feb and here it is the end of march and still no dress. Everything is out of town, so I can set any plans in stone because as soon as my dress does come in I have to jump on the first plane to get my bridal portrait done. Everytime I call they act at tho they do not care. They have an attitude everytime I talk to someone. Also, I let them know that I would not be having my alterations done at the store because I didn trust them and there reply was that fine, you don have to have anything else done by us example of they just don care. I have never written a review ever before but this has upset me so bad I felt that future brides needed to be aware. I would have rather went and paid more money to have better service and my dress on time. I have a lot of friends that are engaged and I have made sure that they know not to even step foot in this store.

I will be glad when my wedding comes this May 22 2010, b/c I am so sick of dealing with this store. They are horrible and I wish I would have read the reviews before I purchased my dress. Then to make matters worse I went in for my first dress fitting and the alterations lady was good, but then I try to purchase my wedding shoes and was lied to about being able to order the shoe online with the actual touch ups company just to make a $30.00 sale. As we know all sales are final, and I really feel screwed. I don like to say hate, but that the feeling I have toward this store, stay away if you know what best for you. Oh last but not least you would think after all these bad reviews they would some advice and try to make some changes.

The attendant I had was very thorough in getting the right kind of dresses for me to try on. Not being able to take photos was a drawback, but the dress I wound up buying was a unique enough dress that the lack of photos wasn a problem. No where else had this dress, not even on the internet, so props to this store for having the great selection. (I was a very picky bride)However, I was horribly surprised to see the condition the dress arrived in. It was so wrinkled, it looked like it had been hosed down and crumpled in a box for 6 months!! On top of that, they wanted to charge $80 to steam it!!! Who sells the customer a horribly wrinkled dress they paid hundreds of dollars for, then charges for steaming??!!! That just ridiculously BAD customer service if you ask me. If you not as picky as I was, do not go with these guys, although their attendants are very professional, their policies really stink. I understand this is with bridal stores, but they shouldn have to sink to that level.

Pros: best selection in mid northern Indiana

Cons: no photos allowed, charge for steaming, high prices

This store is the most HORRIBLE store ever. This is my first wedding and my only wedding. I had went to many other different bridal stores and i couldn get in to try on dresses. So i drove to there store hoping to get in. I did but they really didn want to see me they made me feel like i was intruding. Then they put me with a new girl that had just started working there and she was awesome she picked out the dress that i ended up buying. But because i am a plus size woman they decided to order my dress 2 SIZES TO BIG. The day i go to try the dress on after it took them 3 months to get my dress they keep telling me how much weight i have lost but that isn true i am the same size i was when i bought the dress and they took my measurements. they just order it 2 SIZES TO BIG to get more money out of money. Then i had to come back to be fitted for alterations and they want $415 to do the alterations that is half the price of the dress. And when i decided i was going to take the dress some where else they wouldn give me my dress unless i paid them $50 dollars for the alteration appointment which they never informed me about before. My mother talked to a lady that use to work for the bridal store she told her that they do that to all woman that are not a perfect size. I am three weeks away from my wedding with a dress that is 2 SIZES TO BIG. This place should not be aloud to be in business.

wedding dresses plus Don't Tell The Bride

Don't Tell The Bride

After four years of being together and three wedding dresses later (someone's an eager beaver), personal assistant Niamh and her hubbie-to-be Austin finally got a wonderful opportunity to tie the knot. Austin (who is a dead ringer for Alan Carr) works in his father's stationery shop in Clontarf in Dublin. He considers himself to be a "wheeler dealer" and capable of pulling off a great day for his bride-to-be Niamh. However, he soon proves to be more of a philosopher in reality and very laid back (not to mention a highly emotional fellow).

He is worried about being without Niamh for three weeks - and so the loving bride supplied him with a code to unlock a special song off the computer for each day that they spent apart (and yes it was just as cheesy as it sounds). From the constant crying each time he played a song, to the unnecessary one-to-one soppy camera pieces that would leave you rushing for the nearest bucket - I found this episode quite hard to stomach.

Following five episodes of 'Don't Tell The Bride', I can safely say that Niamh was the most highly strung and demanding bride to date - when a generous is thrown in your direction to aid with your dream wedding, can you really be that demanding? Apparently this pink fanatic (the colour not the singer), is known for being a princess, and she even stated that if any of the wedding plans go wrong that "Austin will be paying for it for the next fifty years (well that's reassuring).

With Rob and Dave the accountant groomsmen on board, and his bestman and brother Scott, Austin went on the hunt for a big fluffy meringue looking wedding dress- in pink of course (such a risky decision). Meanwhile, Niamh went fantasy shopping to a gorgeous vintage shop that I am dying to locate, and tried on an elegant 1950's dress to die for. I wasn't so keen on the second Hollywood glamorous style dress, it was more red-carpet than wedding day, but I definitely thought that she was on the right track to the perfect dress.

Niamh claimed that having a big white traditional dress is "the epicentre" of her dream wedding - but surprisingly she adored the puffball pink dress that Austin bought. (hmm not buying it). Of course, the princess had her heart set on getting wed in a beautiful castle surrounded by a lake, and as always the bride checked out some killer locations. When Austin took a trip to the farm I couldn't help but think it had to be for cameras - seriously she never mentioned a thing about even liking animals! He clearly didn't get the gist that this was supposed to be a high-maintenance wedding.

As the episode went on Niamh began to get even fussier, and I began to worry about how she would react to poor Austin's choice of venue. Thankfully Austin didn't have the hen's night in his local pub (or the Dolly Parton appreciation night for that matter), and hired a disco bus to get the night started. The highlight of the show had to be seeing Austin sporting a pink 'onesie' and dressed like a baby, while pottering around Temple Bar - oddly enough he didn't look too out of place.

As always it was a bit of a struggle when it came to purchasing bridesmaids dresses, but in fairness when one person doesn't show up and another person insists that she won't even wear a dress, it is a bit of a tricky situation. I wasn't pleased with how the personal shopper insisted on navy dresses when the brief was pink . I suppose there was a dash of pink introduced with the cardigans, but how difficult could it be to find a pink bridesmaids dress?

It was great to see Austin's quirky personality shine through when he opted to wear a kilt, but his poor groomsmen and bestman looked a bit confused and uncomfortable by the whole thing (their faces were absolutely priceless). However things soon went from bad to worse when it got to the morning of the 'big day'. The bride who prides herself on being punctual turned up almost and hour and a half late, and almost forced some of the guests to leave (was it because she wouldn't let the hairdresser touch her hair?).

By the time the Cinderella style horse and carriage arrived at the venue, it was almost five bells, and luckily the gospel choir, priest and some of the guests were still there. As expected the lovebirds were overjoyed when they were reunited, but at one stage I couldn't help but shout 'get a room" at the TV. By the several Facebook status updates during last night's show, I definitely wasn't alone in thinking this.

dress for the summer How To Make a Wooden Spoon Doll

How To Make a Wooden Spoon Doll

In the olden days wooden spoon dolls will give hours of fun and entertainment to countless young girls. Nowadays it may be hard to find wooden spoon dolls unless you look at antique shops and stores specializing in country crafts. For a nostalgic look at the good old days, you can recreate these beautiful wooden spoons dolls to decorate your living room or kitchen to bring some country charm to your home with the following steps.

Buy a pack of new wooden spoons. There are some that come in the same size but some manufacturers include wooden spoons in different sizes in a pack. You will also need craft and fabric glue or hot glue gun, needle and thread, scraps of colorful calico, muslin, lace and eyelet trim, yellow, brown or tan yarn and craft paint. You also need some tan or light brown colored felt for arms and hands.

Make a template for the face of the doll. You can make a mom, dad and a young child from a pack of three wooden spoons in different sizes. If you are going to do a family you need to make three templates.

Trace the template over the back side of the wooden spoon and use craft paint to draw and color the face.

Cut several lengths of yarn to create the hair for the dolls. The mom can have a center parted hairstyle with the back drawn in a bun. The small child can have long, braided hair secured with ribbons. Dad will have a regular hairstyle for men.

Draw a pattern for the dress on paper. You will basically be creating a T-shaped dress pattern with a slightly raised neckline. The shape should be wide enough that you can gather it around waist to form a wide and shirred-at-the-waist long skirt. The skirt should cover the end of the spoon handle. Cut two pieces of the dress in bright calico fabric.

Draw a petticoat pattern on paper. This should of the same width as the dress. Cut this from the muslin.

Hand stitch or machine-sew the pieces at the shoulders, sleeves and sides of the dress. Use clean up stitch for the petticoat. Sew bits of eyelet on the ends of the sleeves and around the bottom end of the petticoat. Add lace around the neckline of the dress.

Cut two arms from the felt fabric. If you want it three dimensional, cut two pieces for each arm, sew around the edges and fill it with fiberfill. Part of the forearms and the hands should be seen from the edge of the sleeves.

Attach the arms to the inside to the sleeves, making sure that the hands face the right way and extended outside the sleeves.

Slip the handle of the spoon through the neckline of the dress. Mark the place where you will gather the dress at the waistline with a pin. Remove the wooden spoon and turn the dress inside out.

Attach the petticoat to the inside of the dress, following mark you made to indicate the waistline. You can either set the petticoat using a sewing machine or hand stitch it in place. Turn the dress over when you are done.

You can use two short pieces of wooden dowel and attach these to the opposite sides of the wooden spoon to indicate the shoulders. In this way there will be a cross bar where the dress can hang and not slip down even if the dress is tied loosely. Use thin grosgrain ribbon to gather the neckline of the dress closer to the wooden handle. Use a wider piece of grosgrain ribbon for the waistline so that the stitching can be hidden. Loop a piece of ribbon and gather the ends and glue or stitch them together. Attach the ribbon loops to the back of the wide part of the wooden spoons.

Do the same for the small child, and make shirt and pants for the dad. Cut feet/shoes from black felt and attach to the inside of the pants legs. For a make doll you may have to cut part of the handle to make way to the creation of two legs covered with a pair of pants.

weddings veils Mackie Confirms Falcon Role

Mackie Confirms Falcon Role

Anthony Mackie, star of both The Hurt Locker and The Adjustment Bureau has confirmed his role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Mackie will be playing Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon. Here is excerpt from Mackie interview with Leslie Beale of News Day:

playing the Falcon. He's this guy in Harlem who moved to California and became a drug dealer. His plane crashed, and he was genetically altered, and he can fly, has telepathic powers. He's the first African-American superhero. It makes me feel all the work I've done has been paying off. I have a son, nephews and nieces, and I love the idea that they can dress up as the Falcon on Halloween. They now have someone they can idolize. That's a huge honor for me. His father, a minister, had been killed trying to stop a fight. Sam did his best to try and do the right thing, but when his mother was killed by a mugger two years later, Sam's grief and anger consumed him. His grief and anger consumed his personality, eventually led him down a criminal path. The once-respected community volunteer took on the name of "Snap" Wilson, becoming a racketeer while working for the mob. After an assignment in Rio de Janeiro, Sam's plane crashed in a remote Caribbean island where the Red Skull and his henchmen, the Exiles, were hiding out. The Red Skull sought to use Wilson as a pawn against Captain America, who was currently on the island searching for the villain. The Skull reasoned that Wilson's idealism would appeal to the Captain enough to become his crimefighting partner. Then, at some later date, the Skull could use Wilson against his enemy. He used a Cosmic Cube to revert "Snap" into Sam and give Sam the ability to telepathically communicate with birds, especially a bird that Wilson had bought named Redwing. Sam helped Captain America defeat the Skull and did indeed become his partner as the Falcon. Emphasis on the AMERICAN. While Black Panther preceded him, he was a native to Africa. Falcon is the first introduced African-American superhero character preceding Luke Cage and Storm who was the first African female superhero. I think that's what Mackie meant in his statement.

Can't wait to see how Falcon translates to film. Are we going to get a quick origin through flashbacks.? Or is his origin going to be in modern times? Red Skull is responsible for creating Falcon using the Tessaract to mentally fuse Sam Wilson with his falcon Redwing which creates the psychic link. He eventually hones that ability to control all birds. Will we see that origin is what I want to know?

Kudos to Marvel to upping a more black presence in their movies. The 60s and 70s comics were too "white" (a product of its time of course) and they have grown more open in the past few years and realized its the 21st century. Especially Brian Bendis who likes adding racial diversity in his stories. (he is the reason Sam Jackson is Nick Fury in the movies)

As long as they don't replace a current major white (or whatever) character to black just to add more diversity. It wouldn't have sat well had the Will Smith as Cap rumour would have been true. Same for Bruce Banner or even Tony Stark. Marvel has a big list of ethnic characters to explore and don't need to change any (see Alicia Masters in FF, Heimdall in Thor).

Having Sam Wilson as Falcon is the first step. Although I'm not a fan of the character, I'm happy they are sticking to his roots and Cap's history and not creating some new character out of the blue to be Cap's sidekick. (Fox will probably do this or grab any Marvel character and throw him in). The next step is Black Panther and Luke Cage.

shoes bridal London Collections

London Collections

If you were to believe what you read in some tabloids, then you might think that the recent London Colections: Men Autumn/ Winter '13 offerings have nothing to offer you, unless you're a painfully cool fashion blogger with a penchant for garish colours and partial nudity. There were, of course, some challenging proposals -- of which more another time -- but these collections do shape the trends. No matter how outlandish and haughty the undiluted catwalk looks, you'll have come round by the time the leaves are falling. Trust me, as a guy who wants to be stylish rather than slavish, these are the trends you'll really get on board with. Take note now for your Autumn/ Winter wardrobe.

1. Tartan

If there was one big message from London designers last week, it was that anything Scottish goes. At E. Tautz (above), there was plenty of playing around with the proportions of the Fraser tartan on tailored coats with blown up checks and neat patterned suits. Hardy Amies designer Claire Malcolm showed traditional three-piece suits in all kinds of checks from subtle greys to bold cobalt. If you're ready for full Rupert Bear, then Lou Dalton's blood red tartan trousers are for you.

2. Velvet

There was quite a dandy vibe in the air. I know I probably won't tempt you into silky dressing gowns and slippers as daywear ,but a velvet tuxedo jacket is doable, non? Take in Alexander McQueen's luxurious burgundy (above) for inspiration. Christopher Kane also showed some brilliant royal blue velvet trousers which would look great with jackets or big, cosy knits.

3. Big Coats

Coats? For Winter? How incredibly insightful, I hear you tut. But this is about a specific kind of jacket; one that is oversized, generously cut on the shoulders with room underneath for plenty of layers, though most came styled with slim fit trousers. Christopher Raeburn is an excellent place to begin with his paneled khaki and navy smart parka (above). Meadham Kirchhoff black shiny slick version of the big coat had something of the goth about it, which takes me nicely on to my next subject />

4. Horror

This was a more a kind of mood which pervaded the shows in London last week, but which is sure to translate into a statement t-shirt-kind-of-trend. At the Alexander McQueen show there was a soundtrack which seemed to be straight out of a horror film. Although there was nothing specifically scary about the clothes themselves -- though the pinstripe suits reminded of Gomez from The Addams Family -- the models did have plastic wrapped around their faces (above). Christopher Kane decided to carry on the Horror theme of his Womenswear SS '13 collection because so many guys had placed orders for the Frankenstein t-shirts. Now you boys have your very own collection of scary tees and hoodies, order the Kane originals or wait for plenty of high street variations.

5. Red and Orange

Almost every designer worth their salt included something on the fire-like colour spectrum. Jonathan Saunders is arguably London King of Colour and he reigned supreme with colour bleed blocking from fawn to tangerine and a lovely biscuit hued coat (above). Then there were flashes of fluoro scarlet peeking from layers of jackets and sweaters or from otherwise muted camo prints. Christopher Raeburn fireman jackets with hi-vis strips in blinding highlighter orange are defnitely worth saving up for. The easiest way to work it? Orange socks as seen at E. Tautz.
